A Medellín bachelor party has been on your bucket list for a while now, and it looks like you’re finally coming. But you have no idea where to stay, what to do, or how to begin.
You’ve come to the right place.
Here at Medellin Crew, we have almost a decade of experience planning bachelor parties in Medellín. From groups of 30+ guests to two partners in crime living it up, we’ve seen it all. But times have changed, and so has the city.
Medellín Bachelor Party Origins
It seems like only yesterday when the first groups of guys, fresh off watching Narcos, took a leap of faith and visited Medellín.
We say leap of faith because back in 2013-2015, people were almost embarrassed to admit they were coming to Medellín. There was still stigma surrounding the city’s past. Bachelors would tell their families, and with every group, there was always one guy who ended up dropping out.
There were only a few dozen Airbnbs available, and to guarantee the best ones, you had to book months in advance.
The only two great restaurants in town were Carmen and Ocio (now Oci). It was rice and beans or bust, really.
Nightclubs were authentic Medellín parties with old-school reggaeton. But no English was spoken, and the nightlife scene was cliquey.
The only thing that hasn’t changed over a decade later is the beautiful women woven into the fabric of ‘paisa’ culture.
I’d like to say those were the good old days, but many would argue times are better now.
Medellín in 2027
The Medellín we knew back then is long gone. It had to die out for a new Medellín to be born out of the ashes — a developed city, beautiful parks, amazing nightlife, and epic restaurants, while keeping the beautiful women, paisa hospitality, and over-the-top intangibles that made it special in the first place.
Now that we’ve got your attention and you’re ready to hit the ground running, here are our 9 easy-to-follow steps to plan your Medellín bachelor party.
Step 1 – Pick the Right Time for a Medellín Bachelor Party
By “right time” we don’t just mean the month — we also mean giving yourself enough time to put this all together.
A good rule of thumb is 4-5 months to plan this type of event. You’ll need time to find the right rental, assemble the right crew, and for some, grovel for permission.
As for time of year, Medellín is the city of eternal spring, so there isn’t really a bad season weather-wise. But there are a few periods we don’t recommend:
Easter: In a heavily Catholic country, Easter is the holiest week of the year. Many locals go on vacation, and the tradition still stands where businesses shut down on Holy Thursday or Good Friday.
August / Medellín Flower Festival (Feria de las Flores): Families and couples love this time because the city is bright and beautiful. But bachelor party groups have to deal with long airport lines, packed clubs, and zero availability for reservations anywhere.
Election times: Hard to plan around, but it can derail a Medellín bachelor party fast. During local and national elections, “ley seca” (dry law) goes into effect, meaning no alcohol is served at any establishment.
Step 2 – Pick the Right Crew
We’ve had groups where half the guys refuse to really let loose because they don’t trust a few people in the squad.
Sounds ridiculous, but it happens. Guys get strong-armed into inviting people who can’t be trusted.
We also recommend keeping your group size between 6-12 guests. There are only a handful of rentals with 12+ bedrooms, so if privacy matters to your crew, groups of 15+ can become a burden. Not to mention, try finding a top restaurant that can accommodate 20+ guests on short notice. Not easy.
Step 3 – Best Villas and Penthouses for a Medellín Bachelor Party
Airbnb tends to be everyone’s go-to platform, and it’s genuinely changed the way we do business. But Airbnb only tells half the story.
We could point to dozens of “party-friendly” villas that aren’t what they promise — places with questionable reviews, irresponsible landlords, and outdated photos. Unfortunately, a lot of groups don’t do enough research on rentals and end up crashing and burning.
El Poblado is the only place you should be staying, whether that’s in the heart of the nightlife area or not. Look for recent reviews, Superhost status, read the house rules carefully, and don’t be afraid to ask questions before booking.

Step 4 – Getting Around in Medellín
Places in the nightlife area tend to be great because of location, but it’s rare to find somewhere big enough to accommodate larger groups.
Sometimes you’ll end up staying in an area where, even if it’s a 3-minute drive, you’ll still need to rely on third-party transportation.
Taxis can be unreliable, and while Uber is popular, we still recommend keeping an eye out. We recommend booking a van or SUV through a trusted third-party company to accompany you at all times, especially after hours.
A 15-19 passenger van runs about $250 for the full night — a small price to pay for comfort and security, especially for a group of 10+ guests. You can read more about our transportation options.
Step 5 – Food and Drinks
Most trips to Medellín last 72-96 hours, which means every hour counts.
This is why a solid breakfast matters more than people think. We’ve found that once a group is properly fed in the morning, they get a lot more out of the day. In bigger groups, you’ll usually have a couple of early risers while the rest sleep in nursing a hangover — and that gap wastes time and gets in the way of whatever daytime activity you had planned.
For breakfast, we recommend eating in with a VIP Chef. For lunch and dinner, go local.
Best Restaurants for Lunch and Dinner
Hatoviejo: local Colombian cuisine.
Carmen: regularly ranked among the top 50 restaurants in Latin America.
Oci: one of the city’s best dinner spots.
Mamba Negra: epic views, trendy, upscale.
Don Diablo: an excellent steakhouse.
Bar XO: Carmen’s newer bar, serving great food and cocktails.
Step 6 – Do I Need a Bodyguard in Medellín? Is Medellín Safe?
Medellín has come a long way from what people knew back in the 90s and early 2000s. But that doesn’t mean you should let your guard down.
Local police might still try to shake you down if you give them the opening. You could also find yourself in trouble after hours if you’re drunk and belligerent.
We recommend leaving the flashy jewelry at home — Rolexes and anything else expensive that draws unnecessary attention.
A bodyguard will keep an eye on the group, handle money, and translate when needed. That way, all you have to focus on is making sure your crew has a great time.
Step 7 – Best Tours in Medellín
If you’re going to be in Medellín for 3-4 days, we recommend getting immersed in the culture, not just the nightlife.
With big groups this can be a challenge, but that’s what we’re here for — to recommend the best possible tours for your crew.
Comuna 13: once one of Colombia’s most dangerous neighborhoods, Comuna 13 (San Javier) is now full of culture — amazing views of the city, outdoor escalators, cable cars, soccer fields, and spectacular street food. It’s a tour of the city’s history as much as where it’s headed.
Guatapé: a town about 90 minutes from Medellín, known for its colorful houses, famous monolith (El Peñón), and a stunning man-made lake. In Guatapé you’ll find boat parties, cultural tours, and great food.
ATVs in Medellín: nothing says bachelor party quite like ripping through the hills outside the city. From waterfalls to horses to the views along the way, it’s an experience unlike any ATV tour you’ve done before.
There are at least half a dozen tours you shouldn’t leave the city without experiencing, but these three are a great place to start. For any 4-day trip, we recommend doing at least two of these excursions.
Step 8 – Concierge Services for a Medellín Bachelor Party
We get a lot of groups asking how necessary a concierge really is. If your group is small and easygoing, you might not need one.
But try juggling the logistics while staying in touch with every member of your group and collecting money from all of them — good luck.
A concierge in Medellín isn’t just there to translate. More than anything, it’s about logistics, comfort, and convenience.
Whoever ends up stuck planning this shindig is taking on a huge responsibility, not just to the group but to themselves. When you plan a trip, you’re responsible for every detail, and there’s no one pickier than your own friends.
So can you set this all up on your own? Sure. But do you really want that responsibility?
Step 9 – Medellín Nightlife
As the icing on the cake, every Medellín bachelor party needs the right nightlife plan.
Chances are you’re in town from Thursday through Sunday or Monday, which means you’ve got Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to hit the town. So what are the best options for a Medellín nightlife itinerary? Here are a few of our favorite bars, clubs, and rooftops:
Gusto: hip-hop, reggaeton, gentleman’s club.
La Isla: strip club.
Fase Dos: strip club.
Teatro Victoria: 4 nightclubs in one — reggaeton, hip-hop, crossover.
Ene Bar: rooftop bar, trendy, great cocktails and even better reggaeton.
Envy Rooftop: deep house, a great spot for pre-gaming.
A good rule of thumb: start the night on a rooftop, move into a club once the group’s energy picks up, and save the late-night stops for whoever’s still standing.
Medellín Bachelor Party Itinerary
Now that you have the basics of what it takes to put this event together, here’s what an average weekend should look like.
You’ll have a luxury rental, transportation, concierge, and bodyguard service. You’ll also have 2-3 tours, pre-planned Medellín nightlife, and enough leisure time to regain your strength in between.
Will you sacrifice a few extra hours of sleep and go ham on electrolytes? Absolutely. But will it be the trip future bachelor parties get measured against? You’re damn right.
